Yes, I think senior citizens are discriminated against in today’s society. I have a few reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, senior citizens face age discrimination in job markets. They are overlooked or forced to retire as they are considered as less productive at this age. Older people have difficulties in finding a job after their retirement even though they are still competent.The expertise and experience of old people are often undervalued by companies.

Secondly, the cost and time needed for looking after the aged are considered as a liability for society. People who produce things and provide services are respected more than those who do not. Meanwhile, youth and beauty are portrayed as being ideal in the media and consequently many youngsters forget they will also grow older.

For the reasons just stated, I feel senior citizens are discriminated against in today’s society.
