I think the world should encourage people to use more renewable energy, because it can reduce(minimize) the effects of global warming and is environmentally friendly.

Firstly, Compared with fossil fuels like crude oil and coal, renewable energy such as solar power, wind power and geothermal does not dry up(run out) and emit CO2 which is the main reason of global warming. Consequently, many countries have been investing much money and doing a lot of research in developing renewables to make up for(supplement) energy shortages. Actually, renewables already provide about 16 percent of the world’s energy needs. Moreover, by promoting the use of renewables, it may help to create more job opportunities and spur scientific research and innovation.

Furthermore, clean and safe renewable energy does not pollute the environment. However, nuclear energy may lead to radiation leakage. For example, when the 2011 Fukushima Earthquake occurred, some harmful(toxic) substances from the nuclear reactors leaked outside the plants and caused(gave rise to) severe air, water and soil contamination. As a result, quite a few people in the region suffered from radiation diseases due to the leakage. So, more and more countries are adopting policies designed to encourage the use of clean and safe alternative energy.

Although developing renewable energy may be costly, on the basis of above-mentioned reasons I maintain that the world urgently needs to call for more people to use renewable energy.
