I believe that endangered species should be protected for the following reasons.

Firstly, protecting one species equals to protecting the entire ecosystem. The extinction of one species will impact on some other species and gradually on human beings. This is because humans top the food chain. So, protecting endangered species is beneficial for all life on earth.

Secondly, human beings have a responsibility to protect endangered species. The loss of biodiversity is mainly caused by human activities such as exploitation and unwise intervention. As a result, many of the animals and plants being lost haven’t been thoroughly studied, which is a tragic loss to humans. Who knows what major contributions they could have made to human life in terms of medicine or nutrition? But now they will be lost to us forever.

In conclusion, I hold that endangered species should be protected.
