課題:Should Japan rethink the relationship with the United States?
以下がサンプル例文です。
Over Several Decades Japan has been under the military protection of the U.S.. While it once served the purpose, I believe that it is not beneficial to the interests of the United Stats, as well as to Japan’s sovereignty and its role in international relationships in the long term.
Firstly, Japan is protected under the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty, and so is not fully responsible for its own territorial security. This severely weakens the diplomatic leverage necessary to become an independent player on the world stage, even though it may allay(ease) the concerns of the public in the face of conflicts and threats from neighboring countries. Hence, I feel Japan should build up a fully-fledged military force to take on the sole obligation of protecting its territorial security, Which in turn contributes to strengthening its political stance in international relationships.
Secondly, Japanese territorial security is being protected by the U.S. at the expense of sacrificing the sovereignty. There are United State’s military bases dotted around Japan, which I feel is hurtful to the public emotions. Furthermore, I heard on the news several times that American soldiers violated(infringed on) Japanese women’s rights. I maintain that Japan should not only be economically independent but also become politically strong enough so as to defend its sovereignty and population’s dignity.
Finally, the current relationship has also a disadvantage to America. As the U.S. has the obligation to help Japan take military action to cope with disputes and threats from other countries, it costs America quite a lot of financial and human resources. This distracts America’s attention of handling its own domestic problems, which causes bitterness and dilemma between the U.S. and Japan.
Based on the above-mentioned reasons, I firmly believe that the present military agreement between the two nations are mutually disadvantageous. The United States ought to focus on its own issues and Japan has to fortify(bolster) its military ability and political clout in order to be solely responsible for its own defense and protect its sovereignty.
