These days we see a lot of female company presidents or politicians. Many feminists cherish these results. However, I do not believe that women’s rights get enough attention.

Firstly, a woman’s basic salary is still less than a man’s in Japan.
Women are thought to be less talented or not obedient by Japanese corporate management classes.

Secondly, many menial jobs are still performed by women in Japan. They clean many public places or work as cashiers at supermarkets with meager salaries. We still see elevator ladies in some Japanese department stores.

Thirdly, the child rearing is still considered as the woman’s job in Japan. Many women have to quit their jobs for this task or they take a temporary leave until their kid enter a nursery school.

Japan is the third largest economy in the world but Japanese women are still in the shade. They are treated as inferiors or simply child rearing mammals by men.
