Yes I feel these days people are becoming less polite. I have a few reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, with fast paced lifestyles and the sluggish economy in Japan, People feel stressed, thus becoming irritable and intolerant to others.They do not care about other people’s feelings very much.

Secondly, quite a few people overly focus on material wealth, thus losing something precious. Politeness, modesty and integrity are overlooked these days. Children mimick adults’ behavior which instils pragmatism into children’s minds . Many of them do not exchange greetings when meeting their neigbours and friends.

Finally, some people speak loudly on their smartphone in public places. Some are preoccupied with browsing the internet and do not offer their seats to the elderly or sick on the train.

For the reasons I just gave you,I feel people are becoming less polite and apathetic.
