I do not think there is enough being done to protect people’s privacy on the internet for the following reasons.

Firstly, these days cyberbullying often takes place due to loose regulations on protecting people’s privacy on the internet. Some people with ill-intentions post offensive messages to others anonymously. For those who are bullied, it will cause pain and humiliation. There have even been cases of cyberbullying leading young people to commit suicide.

Secondly, computer crimes sometimes occur. Criminals making use of loopholes in internet censorship gain access to people’s vital information such as bank accounts and credit cards’ details in order to steal money. This makes more people spend money on strengthening security on the internet in order to prevent such cyber crimes.

In conclusion, I feel governments should put more effort into beefing up safety on the internet and punish those who post offensive messages to others.
