課題:Agree or disagree: World peace is an achievable goal

以下がサンプル例文です。

While world peace is desired by many people, there are three major obstacles which are conflicts over natural resources, uneven distribution of wealth and propogander of mass media to hinder world peace.

Firstly, taking advantage of natural resources to profit often leads to conflicts within resource-rich areas like in the Middle East. Countries in these regions greatly depend on crude oil to develop their economies and often compete for the excavation right of oil fields, which often causes disputes, even warfare with neighboring nations. Additionally, Income from these resources is often pocked by corrupt politicians, thereby provoking discontent within the populace and resulting in social unrest. Consequently, riots(uprisings) frequently take place in such countries.

Secondly, due to uneven distribution of wealth, over 70% of world’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few. This gives rise to economic crisis and breeds(triggers, provokes) disillusioned sentiment. Some poverty-stricken people join terrorist organizations because the desperate economic situation makes them feel they have nothing to lose and have no choice, but to commit violent actions.

Finally, these days the mass media often exaggerate the severity of terrorism by reporting too much negative news in order to artificially create tension. This makes people feel global conflicts are inevitable and living in modern society is insecure. Also, some media present small extremist groups, dispersing false conceptions that breed hostility.

Based on the above-mentioned reasons, I maintain that without successfully tackling the above issues, it is difficult to achieve world peace in the foreseeable future. We should continually make every effort to address conflicts in resource-rich areas, unequal wealth distribution and mass media’s mislead.
