While most people feel natural disasters cannot be completely avoided, I maintain that more efforts, such as strengthening early warning systems and international cooperation should be made to protect against natural disasters.
Firstly, early warning systems are a big help, which may lessen severe damage and save a lot of people’s lives in a disaster. Therefore I think governments should establish research funding in order to make scientists get better at predicting disasters and warning people in advance. For instance, if an early warning of approaching typhoon or tsunami is able to be provided, many people can be evacuated immediately and so lives may well be rescued.
Secondly, international collaboration also plays an important role in helping reduce casualties and damage in a disaster-stricken area. When a catastrophe occurs in a country, if other nations swiftly send specialized teams, medication and food to aid the people involved(concerned), quite a few lives that would otherwise have been lost may be rescued. Hence, thanks to such first aid, the damage will be reduced to a minimum level(the minimal).
Finally, people should increase the awareness of environmental preservation. Many advanced technologies such as adopting clean and safe renewables, scientific irrigation and desalting the soil have been employed throughout the world. This helps decrease the incidence of natural disasters a great deal.
Although ordinary people normally think a natural disaster will never happen to them, looking back on the catastrophe like the 2011 Fukushima Earthquake and basing on the above-mentioned reasons, I believe that more endeavor should be made to protect against natural disasters.
