I Firmly believe that Japan Self-Defense Forces should join non-combative international peacekeeping operations. I have a few reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, Due to Japan’s colonial activities and its defeat in World War II, a new constitution was drafted to prevent Japan from being involved in military operations overseas. So I hold that it is important for Japan to uphold the constitution.

Secondly, as a free and democratic nation, Japan has an obligation to combat terrorism and stop crimes against humanity. We can do this by sending support personnel and providing funding for peacekeeping operations. Also, as Japan has a high level of technology and engineering, we should focus our efforts on rebuilding countries’ infrastructure, power grids and irrigation systems.

Based on the reasons just stated, I maintain that Japan should join nonmilitary international peacekeeping operations.
