課題:Should women change their family names when they get married?

以下がサンプル例文です。

I don not agree that women should change their family names when they get married for the following reasons.

Firstly, carrying on using maiden names helps maintaining women’s individuality. More and more women, especially young generations feel abandoning their family names is like losing themselves and find it unfair that married women are identified by their husbands’ surnames.

Secondly, separate surnames for a married couple will promote gender equality. Changing women’s family names indicates the rights of women as an equal partner in marriage is ignored(denied). The separate surname system is a way of standing against the traditional norm that married women are supposed to be supportive as wives and mothers.

Finally, changing surnames inconveniences working women. They have to change their social recognized surnames and their names of credit cards, driving licenses, business cards and so forth.

For the reasons just mentioned, I believe women should keep on using their surnames when they get married.
