I believe that sports are beneficial to the early development of children, especially in terms of self-discipline, sense of teamwork and easing stress.

Firstly, Sports such as soccer and baseball can cultivate a sense of teamwork. These sports require children to play with each other and create an opportunity for other players in order to win the game, so children need to organize themselves, which demands a sense of teamwork.

Secondly, a lot of sports require team members to be well disciplined. children are not allowed to be late for training or to be absent from a game without a proper reason. Also, they have to follow(obey/comply with) the instructions of the coach. Hence, I feel doing sports can strengthen children’s ability to improve their self-discipline.

Finally, Playing sports helps relieve pressure deriving from studies. These days many children have to complete a lot of homework and pass difficult exams, which often brings them great stress. If children have more chances to play sports like swimming, running, I think it contributes to their physical and mental well-being.

For the above-mentioned reasons, I hold that sports are an essential ingredient for a child’s long term development.
