I believe that renewables will become the world’s leading energy source in the coming years. I have a few reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, Compared with fossil fuels, renewable energy does not run out. The consumption of renewables has increased rapidly in recent years. Actually, renewable energy already provides about 16% of the world’s energy needs. For instance, Iceland almost completely relies on geothermal energy. In the US biomass has become the largest source of renewables and currently provides nearly 4% of the US energy requirement.

Secondly, Renewable energy is environmentally friendly. Using it does not emit CO2, which helps to minimize the effects of global warming. These days both public and private sectors are concerned about the environment and they invest a lot of money in developing renewables such as solar and wind power.

For the reasons just stated, I hold that renewable energy will replace fossil fuels and become the world’s leading energy source in the future.
