課題:Should more be done to fight piracy on the open seas?

以下がサンプル例文です。

According to the International Maritime Bureau (IMB), there are around 500 reports of piracy against ships every year. It sounds so much and a lot of people believe that more should be done to fight piracy on the open seas. But I have a negative belief about it. I will briefly discuss it.

Firstly, it is impossible to hunt pirates down. They prefer to use busy commercial waterways, like the Strait of Malacca or the Singapore Strait for their grounds and it makes them easy to blend in with the hundreds of other vessels.

Secondly, we cannot chase them down for what they had stolen. These days, they steal liquid fuel rather than other types of commodity goods. They siphon away oil from target ships to their tankers and use middlemen to cash it out. They sometimes make the oil more difficult to trace by mixing it with other fuel.

Thirdly, armament does not solve this problem. Firearms are illegal on commercial vessels in many countries. And it is impossible to put professional security personnel on thousands of every ships in practice. We should bear in mind that security teams have sometimes created their own problems.

Finally, these days there are less people on the ships because of the automation and it makes easy for pirates to attack. Many ship companies are trying to equip high speed capability on their ships for deterring pirates but pirates also use state of the art vessels for chasing it.

Most of the pirates are in destitute. As long as there are economic inequality in the world we have this kind of heist activity. The more oil prices increase the more piracies we have.
